AMobiSense is a context and device sensors monitoring platform combined with powerfull power monitor build on top of PowerTutor application. It is primarily designed to be used by self-trackers and researchers to gather data for mobile software optimization.
What AMobiSense can show to you?
Device Context
* List of supported sensors on device
* Light,
* Proximity
* Temperature
* Accelerometer
* Number of surrounding WiFi's & Signal strength for visible WiFi's
* Cell ID, Location Area Code and and available info about the surrounding GSM cells
* Device Orientation
Energy use
* List of running applications
* Energy use of these applications
* Energy consumption of device hardware components
* Current over battery (if supported by the phone or estimation)
* Voltage on battery (if supported by the phone)
* Battery temperature
* Battery level
Application IS NOT gathering any personal information such as call numbers, SMS content or browsed pages.
These are basically all the data available on smart-phones without utilizing energy hungry hardware (such as GPS).
How Much Will This App Drain My Battery?
Not so much, on HTC Desire S under common use it lowers battery life by 4% or 5%.
Sending traces back to us and privacy issues
Our primary interest is to answer the following research questions:
* Is it possible to predict that internet connection will be lost in following few seconds?
* Can applications benefit from remote execution of their code snippets?
If you decide to help us, you can allow to send gathered information back to us. Traces are send ONLY IF YOU AGREE to do this (i.e., if you not forget it in the main activity menu, possibly before datacollector start), Amobisense will use strong cryptography to anonymize the data - uploaded data are are not related with you or your phone. WE ARE NOT gathering any personal information such as call numbers, SMS content or browsed pages.
If you are interested in details, which data are (in case you allow it) uploaded, you can check log format, or you can at any time store your personal log to SD card and check it (via the menu of main screen)
